Clarify installation instructions

Hello!

I've gone through and installed Boost, however, it's unclear if boost is automatically available for everyone on the team or if they all have to execute the php artisan boost:install command.

Ideally, these guidelines can be shared with the entire team once everyone agrees to follow them. However, there's an important consideration regarding IDE compatibility:
PHPStorm Users: PHPStorm MCP config requires absolute file paths, which cannot be shared between teammates since each developer has different local directory structures. If your team uses PHPStorm, you should:

• Add all configuration files to .gitignore
• Have each team member install and configure the guidelines individually

Other IDEs: If you're using IDEs other than PHPStorm, you can typically share the installed guidelines directly with your teammates through version control.

We all use claude code, so the CLAUDE.md file should suffice, however, it looked like the boost:install tried (and failed, see #50) to write to the user's ~/.claude.json file?

Our team uses Docker for local development, so running boost:install created/update the necessary files, and since paths match for all devs (containerized setup), so it works pretty well in our case.

That's great, but still doesn't answer my question if every team member needs to execute boost:install to have the mcp server installed in their claude code user config

what error did you got ? can you share.

The answer to your question once you share mcp config files. you don't need to run the installation again but make sure boost installed correctly on machine.

it's the same one in the linked issue, but the point of this issue is not about fixing that

What do you mean by share mcp config files? The CLAUDE.md file is git tracked, so everyone on the team has access to it. Does boost:install modify files outside the project directory (specifically when using Claude Code)? And if it does I'm assuming that all team member have to execute this command to allow Claude Code to use the mcp server?

For Claude Code to work properly, each team member will need to register the MCP via the command line interface on their local machine.
You have two convenient options:

• Manual registration: You can manually register the MCP through the CLI if you prefer. https://boost.laravel.com/installed

• Automated setup: Alternatively, each teammate can simply run php artisan boost:install on their individual machines.
